The Class 50 Alliance Ltd was a company formed in January 2007 by the merger of The Fifty Fund and Project Defiance. From a combined total of four locomotives, two are fitted with the mandatory electronic equipment to allow for their operation on the national mainline.
On occasions it is necessary to move these certified locomotives to and from works or between events using the national mainline. Non-certified locomotives have to be moved by road using a transporter.
