2019 Private Charter

50007 Hercules and 50049 Defiance at different stages on the trip back to base, having worked a GB Railfreight (GBRf) staff private charter that had run from Glasgow Central to Scarborough the day before.

The return working from Scotland ran from Motherwell via Edinburgh to Birmingham New Street via York and Barrow Hill freight line, a total of 371 miles.

For the author, it had been almost 35 years to the day since taking my first ever picture of locomotive 50007 at Birmingham New Street - see photograph. Little did I know back then that I would be travelling back to the same location behind the same locomotive.
