50007 Sir Edward Elgar and 55019 Royal Highland Fusilier attended the September 2009 diesel gala at the Great Central Railway.

It was the first time a Class 50 had visited this particular preserved railway and certainly the first time a member of the class had traversed this particular section of track. The visit to this railway was the tenth preserved railway that 50007 has made an appearance.

The locomotives provided turns from Loughborough to Leicester and the return.
