2023 Swanage Railway Gala

40145, 50021 Rodney and 50026 Indomitable attended the May 2023 diesel gala at the Swanage Railway. This weekend was the first time in 24 years that 50021 had hauled a train in preservation since suffering a serious ETH generator failure back in 1999 whilst based at the Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway. In the intervening period it was moved to the Birmingham Railway Museum at Tyseley in 2002 and then relocated to Eastleigh in 2014 where it underwent a 9-year painstaking restoration effort.

The locomotives provided turns from Swanage to the River Frome Viaduct, the boundary with Network Rail, and the return.
