2016 Severn Valley Railway Gala

50008 Thunderer, 50035 Ark Royal, 50049 Defiance, 55002 The King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry and 55019 Royal Highland Fusilier attended the May 2016 diesel gala at the Severn Valley Railway. 50044 Exeter was also on display, although static in the Kidderminster yard as it was still undergoing mechanical repair.

During the gala a ceremony took place marking the formal opening of the newly-constructed diesel shed and a Class 66763 was named Severn Valley Railway. Also of note was visiting locomotive 50008, which finally began to live up to its name; the long-running performance issues having been rectified.

The locomotives provided turns from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth and Kidderminster to Bewdley.
