Due to a severe shortage of steam locomotives at the Severn Valley Railway, 50031 Hood and 50035 Ark Royal were used as replacements to cover several diagrams.

A pleasant addition to this unofficial mini diesel gala was that of 50044 Exeter on test before its imminent mainline duties. It was double-headed with 50031 between Kidderminster and Bewdley and with 50035 on the return.
