50044 Exeter and 66720 were used in a top-'n'-tail formation on a GB Railfreight (GBRf) staff private charter that ran from Cardiff to Paignton. The tour was organised primarily for personnel based at the Tremorfa steelworks in Cardiff, but also conveyed a number of GBRf management staff and their families.

A mini-railtour then followed from Paignton to Plymouth and the return. This was open to the general public with all proceeds going to Age UK, the nominated GBRf charity for 2012.
