50035 Ark Royal attended the July 2019 diesel gala at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway. This was the first time a Class 50 had visited the railway since resident member 50021 Rodney left back in 1995. It was also the first time a member of the class had reached Cheltenham Spa Race Course and Broadway stations at opposite ends of the line.

The locomotive provided turns from Toddington to Cheltenham Spa Race Course and Toddington to the recently-opened station at Broadway.
